- Vaccinations and Wellness Care
We strive to maintain a healthy relationship with our patients. The time and effort invested in annual and semi-annual wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our wellness appointments are designed to help your veterinarian focus on changes that may have been unnoticable to you. Wellness appointments include: Comprehensive physical exam; internal parasite testing; heartworm and flea control; vaccination program; diet recommendations; and any necessary bloodwork. For more information on our wellness program, click here.
- Surgical Procedures
We offer your pets the same care as you would expect of your doctors when it comes to surgical procedures. Since we have many loyal clients, we limit our surgeries to 2-4 daily Monday – Friday so that we may offer your pets the extensive care they deserve. Before we administer anesthesia all pets receive a physical exam and have a minimal bloodwork panel (CBC) done. Your doctor may recommend additional bloodwork. Your pet will never be without a fully trained surgical technician by it’s side while it is under anesthesia and during recovery. Consultation appointments with your surgeon can be arranged ahead of time to help explain the procedures. For more information on our surgical procedures, click here.
- Emergency Services
In any emergency, seconds count. Please bring your pet in immediately in event of an emergency. Our experienced staff is here to help you and your pet when you most need it. Emergency care is offered during regular business hours. In addition, we use the services of a local, fully staffed emergency center whenever we ourselves cannot be there to help. VCA Animal Emergency Clinic Southeast at Calder Road can be contacted any time we aren’t here, Monday-Thursday 6:00pm – 8:00am and Friday 6:00pm – Monday 8:00am as well as any major holidays. Bloodwork is a means of checking your pet’s internal functions in a non-invasive manner. These tests can often reveal developing problems before your pet has started to show symptoms. We recommend routine bloodwork to establish baselines and for early detection of disease in older patients as well as periodically during many maintenance drug courses. We offer a wide variety of blood tests, many of which can be run in our in-house lab for same day results. Outside lab work is typically processed through Idexx Laboratories, and results are often received within days.
When your pet needs extra care we are here to give it. Our hospital has state of the art equipment to fit your pets every need. Qualified and highly trained technicians will monitor your pet’s vitals throughout the day while a doctor will be present for all medical care and treatment. Daily exams and evaluation of treatment will be performed to assure the proper care for your pet is maintained. Whether it’s post surgical, a transfer from the emergency room, or illness discovered during an exam, your pets will receive the special care they deserve while in our hospital.
- Pain Management
Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do, though studies show that often they do not exhibit this pain around their owners. We understand that recognizing and alleviating pain in our patients is the essence of quality health care. Our doctors will work closely with you to find the right treatment plan to help make your pet more comfortable in it’s daily life.
- UltraSound and Radiology
The non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology in ultrasounds direct sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. These help our doctors determine the proper course of treatment for your pets ailments.
- Internal Medicine
We cover many areas of internal medicine, including: Cardiology; Ophthalmology; Neurology; Dermatology; Gastroenterology; Oncology; Endocrinology; among others. Our doctors often consult with board certified specialists to help ensure the health of your pet, we can refer your pet to a specialist in the area who we work closely with if their services are needed.
- Dental Care
Dental disease typically begins when a thick, sticky plaque builds up on the teeth and hardens to form a cement-like tartar. When this tartar is not removed, the teeth under it begin to decay, causing further damage. Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s oral health. We recommend twice yearly dental examinations. We offer preventative supplies, as well as scaling under anesthesia to help prevent and manage your pet’s dental issues before they progress or become serious.
Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We use ResQ microchips, which can be easily placed while your pet is here with us in hospital, or even during a routine exam!
